original artwork thursday

I got in a quick sketch in the Lowe's parking lot on Saturday and finished it up with a little watercolor at home. I've had these basic lacy shapes rolling around in my head since I painted my boots and wanted to do something else with them. This is really a quick one that I don't love, but I might reuse this pink and ochre color combination again along with some of the shapes.
This paint is being used to spruce up some ugly flower pots.

I began painting them this lovely avocado color yesterday. I really want to get some aqua paint and have avocado and aqua flower pots full of marigolds and nasturtiums. Even though I dislike marigolds, we are using them as a companion plants for our garden.

How are your artsy endeavors coming along?

I like the lacy shapes and the colour palette - it's always nice to get these things down on paper - lest we forget...we still have too much snow on the ground to think about gardening...and then for a while we'll have too much mud - ARRGGHH...

So where did the idea for the artsy stuff come from? I love it!! I consider myself artsy, but never do anything about it. Maybe I will have to take on your challenge! =)

The pots look great. Much better than the plain browny-orange colour they usually come in.

Jamie, I've always been kinda artsy, but in march I took an online sketch class that got me really drawing again. You should definitely take this as a challenge.

Thanks to everyone!
